Can Social Media Be Used In Every Business?
Social media is something that many businesses are jumping on nowadays and it makes sense to do so. There can and usually a lot of extra cash can come from this also. With this in mind can you really just assume that every business can go down the social route or is this something that is limited to certain businesses?
Well it all depends on what kind of “social media experts” you are using and how seriously you are about taking your business into the social world.
Are there any businesses out there that wouldn’t benefit or couldn’t use social media?
Law Firms
Although not impossible for a law firm to be on Twitter you will find that is pretty pointless for most B2B companies to even think about social media as they are just not going to gain any additional traction from being on Facebook and Twitter.
The reason I wouldn’t recommend ruling it out altogether is simply because it could be the difference between gaining an additional client and losing them. Technology influences people and you will find that if a client can gain quick access to your firm on Twitter that it could mean you represent them instead of a rival company.
You do have to be really careful here as you will find that you will have to communicate with potential clients via private messages as I am sure they don’t want their business to be discussed privately.
Banks
Although you will find there are many banks on Twitter and Facebook you will also find that banks that are thinking about joining social media services come up with extensive plans beforehand to make sure that things are going to be running smoothly.
As an industry you will find that banks are often regarded as the bad guys and this would certainly come out when one joins a social network. Sometimes banks are up for this and will open Twitter accounts just to take on the bad press. Some banks have even turned around what people think of them by answering negative comments and directing their customers to something positive.
If you are a bank make sure you have a full proof plan before launching a social campaign.
You can see that already just thinking of two examples that there are cases where companies might take a step back and not think about social media but in both these instances you can see that there is still a way they can run a successful campaign.
Can you think of any other examples?
