Information System Briefing

Health care organizations need to stay up to date with the latest trends and technology that is offered to provide the best patient care possible. Information systems designed for the health care industry help organizations meet the quality and standards that are set for the organization to succeed in the health care industry. Implementing an information system can be a challenging task for the organization and it is imperative that the organization picks an information system that will help accomplish the goals of the organization. It is vital that all stakeholders of the organization are involved in implementing the information system to better understand what the organization is trying to accomplish by using it. Information systems are designed to improve the organization’s tasks and goals, and choosing the right one can be a difficult challenge for all parties involved.

The process for selecting and acquiring an information system first starts with figuring out where the organization needs to start. The first step would be to assign a work team to develop a process and research the types of information systems that the organization is considering (Johnson, 2006). While researching the information system it is imperative that all individuals involved fully understand the system before presenting it to the stakeholders of the organization. This can involve getting the designers of the system to set up a demonstration to show all aspects of the system before implementing the system into the organization. After these steps are completed it is vital for the work team to figure out the expenses of implementing and running the system for the stakeholders to review. These steps will help the organization in the decision process to ensure they are making the right decision when implementing the new information system.

Information systems are designed to help the organization accomplish tasks easier and quicker than the systems or routines the organization has in its current place. It is important that the organization looks at the various information systems and decide which one will help them accomplish the most. Organizations are always looking to increase the work flow and performance from the employees and information systems have been helping them do so. The goals of the organization are the driving force when implementing a new information system. The stakeholders of the organization have seen a need in an increase in a certain area which an information system can help and the information system will be brought in to address that particular need. An organization has to be certain that the information system they are trying to acquire will help them accomplish all of the goals of the organization.

Stakeholders play a vital role in the selection and acquisition process of the information system. A stakeholder could either be from the external or internal organizational environment. Stakeholders could also be regarded as primary or secondary. Primary stakeholders are those stakeholders that have a direct stake in the organization and its success. Secondary stakeholders are those that have a public or special interest stake in the organization (Nilsson, & Fagerström, 2011). Patients are considered as a secondary stakeholder and the information system the organization is trying to implement is based on these secondary stakeholders. Primary stakeholders have a vital role in the acquisition of the information system as they are the main financial providers of the new information system. They want to be certain that they are investing in the right information system that will be both beneficial to all stakeholders and the organization.

. Information systems are designed to improve the organization’s tasks and goals, and choosing the right one can be a difficult challenge for all parties involved. There are steps that will help the organization in the decision process to ensure they are making the right decision when implementing the new information system. The main factor when implementing a new information system is to ensure the new system will meet and accomplish the goals of the organization. Stakeholders are involved in the process to ensure that the new information system is the best choice for the organization as a whole. Information systems designed for the health care industry help organizations meet the quality and standards that are set for the organization to succeed in the health care industry. Deciding which information system is the best for the organization can be difficult, but by taking time and researching the system fully the organization can be certain that the new system will help the organization succeed.
